The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has donated food items and preventive materials to the Gusau Orphanage in Zamfara.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the items were presented to the management of the orphanage in Gusau on Friday by the state’s NYSC Coordinator, Alhaji Namalam Taura.

Taura, said the food items, comprised Cartons of Indomie Noodles, Macaroni, Spaghetti while the preventive materials included sanitisers, bathing and liquid soap, detergents and face masks.

“The visit was in line with the NYSC’s desire to assist citizens of the state during the trying times.

“That is why I led the state NYSC management and Charity Community Development Service (CDS) group to donate food items and the COVID-19 prevention materials to orphans, ” the coordinator said.

He appealed to the management of the orphanage to ensure that the items are applied judiciously for the benefit of the orphans.

He urged them to observe the rules and preventive measures as regards the coronavirus.

Responding while receiving the items, the Director in charge of the orphanage home, Hajiya Hauwa Tukur, commended the NYSC for the gesture.

She assured that the food items would be used strictly for the children while the COVID-19 prevention materials would be used by both the staff and the children of the home.
