Court restrains PDP Kaduna State from conducting LG, state party congresses

A group of concerned members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on the auspices of the Kaduna State Concerned Elders of the party, have obtained a Court Order restraining the PDP National Working Committee, NWC, any Committee or individual persons appointed on their behalf from conducting the Congress on 26th & 29th August 2020.

The court order also restrained the party from conducting the Congress on any other subsequent date, pending the determination of the substantive suit in a date to be communicated later.

A statement issued by a member of the group, Mohammed Mahmood Cheche, said, “Following the desperation and insistence by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP to conduct the outstanding Local Government and State Congresses in Kaduna State without first resolving the persisting issues arising from the Ward Congress conducted on 14/3/2020 and refusing to bring forward the authentic Ward Congress lists and proper formation of LG Congress Committee, a group of concerned members of the PDP in Kaduna State obtained a Court Order restraining the PDP, the NWC, any Committee or individual persons appointed on that behalf from conducting any such Congress on 26th & 29th August, 2020 or any other subsequent date, pending the determination of the substantive suit in a date to be communicated later.”

The Kaduna State Concerned Elders of the party, urged the party faithful in the state to remain calm and be law-abiding, assuring that they are on top of the situation.

They explained that they want to ensure that fair and free Congresses are conducted in the state for the good of the great Party, the PDP.
