Queen Makolo who disclosed this to ‘Daybreak’ in Lokoja said “the PAD BANK project is an initiative tailored at establishing Sanitary Banks in rural communities across the state where every girl child can have access to free pads on a monthly basis.”

“In Nigeria, the high cost of sanitary pads have made the commodity inaccessible for poor girls. In some situations, girls face sexual abuse in their quest for money to buy sanitary pads.”

Queen Makolo stressed that the Pad Bank project is also aimed at curbing this ugly trend and reinforcement of the confidence of girls, especially at the community level, to be proud of their menstrual cycle.

The idea according to her was borne out of the desire to help solve one of the greatest challenges of the girl-child who lack money to buy sanitary pads adding that the Pad Bank project when established every girl child in rural communities can have access to free sanitary pads on a monthly basis.

In extension to her humanitarian services to the girl child, Miss Favour became a Peer Educator and active Volunteer at Heal for Africa Initiative, she also became a convener of ‘AID FOR HER INITIATIVE,’ which she said is aimed at educating and distributing good menstrual product to women and girls in rural communities.
