Gunmen kill catholic priest, kidnap 17 others in Niger


Gunmen have kidnapped and murdered the Catholic Priest of the Diocese of Minna, Reverend Father John Yaji.

The Catholic Priest was kidnapped in Tufa village, along the Lambata-Lapai road in Niger State on Saturdsy

According to a source, the Late Reverend father was returning from Lambata, shortly after a religious meeting with his colleagues.


The bandits had kidnapped the late Priest along with his younger brother, whose whereabouts remains unknown.

In a related development bandits have also abducted seventeen people from three communities of the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

The abducted persons are members of Madagwa, Wango, and Marinji, all in Bassa and Kukokki Ward of the Local Government.

According to a source, the bandits had stormed the villages on Saturday night, at different times, the whereabouts of the abducted persons remains unknown as the Kidnappers have not communicated, or made their demands known.
