Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has implored the Federal Government to direct security agents to enforce the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law passed by some States of the Federation for faster development of the country.
Ortom made this call at a virtue presentation as a Guest Speaker at the 2021 Press Week organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Correspondents’ Chapel FCT on the topic; Insecurity in Nigeria, Installing Peace, Unity and Progress.
Ortom implored the Federal Government to introduce policies that would encourage enforcement of Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law as one of the surest ways to ensuring peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
The Governor recommended compensation for the families of those killed and their properties destroyed by Militia Herdsmen in various communities across the nation.
Ortom enjoined the Federal Government to facilitate the save return and rehabilitation of the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, across the country.
