BOSG: 34,000 Households Benefit From Food Items For Ramadan Fast In Borno

About 34,000 households have benefitted from the BORNO state government’s gesture of assorted food items to cushion the hardship of the less privilege in the spirit of the Ramadan fast across the state.

Borno state Acting Governor, Alhaji Umar Usman Kadafur, during the flag-off exercise hinted that each of the 34, 000 households, would in the spirit of  the Holy month of Ramadan, cart away a  25kg bag of rice, millet, beans, maize, cartons of spaghetti and condiments.

According to the Ag. Governor, “this gesture is targeting 34,000 households in Borno state to cushion the economic hardship especially during this Holy Month of Ramadan”.

Alhaji Umar Usman Kadafur who was at the state mechanical workshop MAIDUGURI for the flag- off  exercise hinted that the food items were  assistance from Dangote, A. A Rano and Baba For All, a Non Governmental Organization.


Alh. Umar Usman Kadafur acting on behalf of the  Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, currently on lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia, warned  the beneficiaries not to sell the items, but use it for the purpose intended and urged them to use the Holy month of Ramadan to pray for the restoration of peace to the state and the country at large.

In his remarks, Chairman Borno State Palliatives Committee who is also the state commissioner for Agriculture, Engr Bukar Talba, said, the beneficiaries cut across residents of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC), Jere, adding that all the 27 Local Government Areas would benefit with atleast 1,500 beneficiaries in each ward.”


Also,the Executive Chairman of MMC, Hon. Umar Bolori, appreciated Government and the donors for coming to the aid of the people of the metropolis who were undergoing intense hardship in this Holy month of Ramadan.

” Todays gesture will greatly put smiles on the faces of our people and permit me to thank His Excellency for directly touching the lives of the people at this trying moment”.
