Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has donated the sum of fifty million naira to the Management of Federal University of Technology Gidan Madi as part of the government’s contributions to the development of education sector in the state.

He made the declaration when the Management team led by Professor Faruk Umar Zaki paid him courtesy visit at government house, Sokoto.

While congratulating them for the well deserved appointments as leaders and task of steering the Institution, Tambuwal said it is very challenging, tasking and on behalf of the people of Sokoto state he appreciate the establishment of the Institution in the state.

“The institution is sited in a remote area where education is most needed. The sitting, location would go a long in bringing out the talents from those areas as they are far left behind in western education and it will also sentise, mobilize them to engage in the education sector of human development”.

He thanked Munguno for sitting the Institution in the state and promised to assist the College after all education he said top the list of his administration and will remain number one until he left the office of the governor.

Assuring every support the college needs, he gave a cash grant of N50m that can assist in paying salaries, office accommodation, access to technical laboratories at Binji, and the possibility of providing two vehicles and all it takes to make education accessible.

Earlier, Professor Faruk who commended Tambuwal for his laudable achievements and modesty in leadership told him of their challenges as they planned for the college to commence operations in October this year.

He said they were at government house to support and uplift the standard of education in Sokoto state in particular and Nigeria in general. He added that their vision is to start with, and give priority to technical, vocational and entrepreneurship courses, so that their graduates would be self employed, self reliant and even employers of labour thereby reducing poverty and idleness in the land.

“The main challenges of those courses are the expensive workshop facilities requirements which might be difficult to acquire especially for us”, Faruk stated.

The difficulty is real considering the situation where they don’t have anything on the ground for the proper take up of the University.

In attendance at the hall were the PDP party Chairman Bello Aliyu Goronyo, Commissioner of Social Welfare Professor Aisha Madawaki and series of dignitaries.
