IS top leader shows up in first video since 2014

By Jennifer Y Omiloli

The top head of the Islamic State (IS) fanatic gathering showed up since 2014, in which he perceived the defeat of his activists in the Syrian town of al-Baghouz and hailed the ongoing bombings in Sri Lanka.

In a 18-minute video posted online on Monday by IS media, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi promised to proceed with the battle notwithstanding the loss of his gathering’s self-guaranteed caliphate in Iraq and Syria.

“The battle of Islam and its people with the Crusader and his people is a long battle,” he said.

“The battle of al-Baghouz is over. But it did show the savagery, brutality and ill intentions of the Crusaders toward the Muslim community,” al-Baghdadi added.

In a reference toward the Easter bombings in Sri Lanka, al-Baghdadi said the Sri Lanka assaults were completed in striking back for the loss of Baghouz.

On April 21, numerous blasts hit houses of worship and inns in Sri Lanka, slaughtering more than 300 and injuring somewhere in the range of 500 others.

The video likewise incorporated a message to IS aggressors, saying “our battle today is a battle of attrition with the enemy, as Jihad continues until doomsday.”
