SOZECOM To Sponsor Sokoto Indigenes To Malaysia

The Scholarship Undergraduate International ‘Waqaf Programmes’ at Alboukhari International University Malaysia was initiated through the Sokoto Zakkat and Endowment Commission (SOZECOM) with the intention of providing proper education to orphans in Sokoto State.

A Malaysian philanthropist and founder of the University provides the scholarship opportunities to the indigenes of the state, while the Sokoto State Government through the SOZECOM will shoulder all other responsibilities including Air Tickets, Visa processing and would give each intending beneficiary of the program a computer laptop to ease their studies while in Malaysia.

While speaking to the intending beneficiaries of the program held at Islamic Education Trust (IET) Tafsir Hall, the Chairman of the Commission, Engineer Muhammad Lawal Maidoki advised them to be good ambassadors of SOZECOM, Sokoto State and Nigeria at large.

While making some clarifications on how these beneficiaries were fairly been selected, Engineer Lawal Maidoki said that to ensure justice and transparency during the selection processes, a special committee was set up by the SOZECOM to undertake proper screening that could not generate here says.

He confirmed to newsmen that those emerged as successful candidates were selected based on merit.

According to him those selected were orphans with poor financial background.
