Abia Governor Otti Condemns PDP’s Shadow Government, Vows Legal Action

By  Milcah  Tanimu

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has condemned the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for forming a shadow government in the state. He described the move as “treasonous” and vowed to take legal action against the party.

Otti, speaking during a meeting with workers’ union leaders, expressed surprise at the PDP’s decision to establish a shadow government with a speaker and shadow commissioners. He called the action “baseless” and criticized the opposition for their ignorance of Nigeria’s political system.

The governor clarified that the concept of a shadow government does not apply in Nigeria’s presidential democracy. “Shadow governments exist only in parliamentary systems,” he explained, calling the PDP’s shadow government a “government in exile” that is legally unrecognized.

Otti has instructed the state’s Attorney General, Ikechukwu Uwanna, to address the issue within the bounds of the law.
