Onuoha made the call on Wednesday in his office when the  new officials of the Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) paid him a visit.

CP Onuoha stressed that the current security challenge facing the nation demanded more attention, adding that more funding was required towards creating better working condition for the police.

According to him, the major challenges confronting Police was that of logistics, communication and information gathering.

The CP described the role of the media as crucial, especially in correcting societal ills, noting that the police in the state will sustain its efforts at bringing crimes to its minimal level.

He pledged improved partnership with the NUJ and urged the new leadership to see their position as an opportunity to contribute to the growth of the society.

Earlier, the State Chairman of NUJ, Alhaji Seidu Ademu said the visit was to familiarize with the police command saying that the need for synergy among the two cannot be overemphasized.

Alhaji Seidu commended the Police for its fight against crimes, but called for strategic efforts at curbing kidnapping and other crimes in the state.

The NUJ Chairman assured that the partnership with the police would be improved upon, adding that there was no alternative to peace and security of the state.
