Ugar Ukandi Odey, Jos

The newly established ANAN University of Accountancy has graduated 6,386 professional accountants during its ninth and combined convocation ceremony for courses 2 and 26 of its flagship, the Nigerian College of Accountancy.

Held at the University permanent site in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, the event also marked the formal admission of the graduands into the professional body of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, ANAN, as Certified National Accountants.

Before the recent establishment of the Accountancy University, ANAN has been the proprietor of the Nigerian College of Accountancy.

In his address on the occasion, President and Chairman of Council ANAN, Professor Muhammad Akaro Mainoma noted that “since the first convocation in 2001, the Association, as well as the College, has continued to grow in leaps and bounds. With College proprietor, ANAN becoming a member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) in 2014, the growth and development of the College has been remarkable”.

Mainoma also noted that “it is noteworthy that the Association leveraged on the NCA to establish the ANAN University. This is not surprising as the Association is the main mantra in driving the science of accountancy. The University shall afford us the opportunity to further push the frontiers of knowledge using the school system”.

Director General of the Nigerian College of Accountancy, Dr Kayode Olushola Fasua urged the new graduates to be good ambassadors of the College, as he also maintained that the progammes of the College will continue alongside the University’s.
