The outcome of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 final has taken a dramatic twist after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) officially overturned the initial result and declared Morocco champions.
In its ruling, CAF’s Appeal Board stated that, in line with Article 84 of the competition’s regulations, Senegal forfeited the final match. As a result, the game has been recorded as a 3–0 victory in favour of Morocco’s football federation.
This decision effectively hands Morocco the title, while Senegal are deemed to have lost the match by default.
The development has triggered strong reactions from members of the Senegalese squad. Defender Moussa Niakhaté expressed his frustration on social media, writing, “Come and get them! They’re crazy! 🏆X🏅,” while Pape Demba Diop also reacted, suggesting disbelief within the camp.
The responses highlight growing tension and dissatisfaction among Senegal’s players following the ruling.
Reports from sports journalist Fabrice Hawkins indicate that Senegal may challenge the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), signaling that the controversy could escalate further.
More updates are expected in the coming days as the situation continues to develop.
