Again, Gunmen Attack Senator Natasha’s Family Home In Kogi

The family home of suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, came under attack once again on Tuesday night, in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

In a statement released on Wednesday by her media office, it was revealed that gunmen stormed the residence and vandalised several windows before being repelled by a swift response from the local police, community vigilantes, and concerned youths. One of the assailants was apprehended during the attack.

The arrested suspect, identified as Suberu Jose—a known ritualist and indigene of the community—reportedly confessed to the crime, revealing that it was his third time participating in attacks on the Senator’s residence. A cutlass and charms were recovered from him at the scene.

An angry mob attempted to lynch the suspect, but security operatives intervened and took him into custody. As of press time, several other suspects remain at large.

This latest incident follows a similar attack on the same residence on April 15, 2025, during which no arrests were made. Tuesday’s arrest marks the first major breakthrough in the string of attacks, which the Senator’s camp believes are politically motivated.

The renewed violence comes amid heightened political tension, as the Federal Government recently filed two criminal charges against Akpoti-Uduaghan. The charges came after she accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment, an allegation that preceded her controversial six-month suspension from the Senate.

“We urge members of the public to remain calm and steadfast in their support for justice,” the Senator’s media office stated. “Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s unwavering commitment to truth and her constituents should not be met with violence and intimidation.”

Confirming the incident, Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, told journalists on Wednesday that the attack occurred on Tuesday night.

“It is true that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s family house in Ihima was attacked yesterday,” Aya said. “One suspect was arrested and is currently assisting the police with useful information.”

He further assured that all remaining suspects would be tracked down and brought to justice.
