Alphonsus Eba Affirms Continued Role as APC Chairman in Cross River State

By Daniel Edu

Alphonsus Eba is standing firm in his position as the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, dismissing claims of his suspension by a certain group. Despite an announcement by Chief Mark Nomba Ayo and Chief Mathias Ake, identifying themselves as party stakeholders, that Eba had been indefinitely suspended, Eba insists he remains the legitimate party chairman.

The group, in a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the APC and copied to various authorities including the state governor, DSS, Commissioner of Police, and Resident Electoral Commissioner, outlined multiple alleged violations of the party’s constitution by Eba. The group accused him of operating as a sole administrator, displaying high-handedness, and fostering a hostile environment.

In response to these accusations, Eba refuted the claims in a telephone interview with DAILY POST, stating, “I am currently in my office. I continue to serve as the chairman of APC in Cross River State.” He pointed out that if he had indeed been suspended, he wouldn’t have access to the state party Secretariat in Calabar, where he is currently conducting his duties.
