Asake Teases Documentary Narrated by Idris Elba on His Musical Journey

By  Milcah   Tanimu

Asake, the Nigerian music sensation, has announced an upcoming documentary narrated by acclaimed British actor Idris Elba, highlighting his remarkable rise to fame. Since his breakout in 2022, Asake has captivated audiences with a string of chart-topping hits and albums, solidifying his place in the music industry. The documentary, shared on Asake’s Instagram on September 23, 2024, features a trailer that begins in the bustling streets of Lagos, where his journey started.

Following the release of his third album, “Lungu Boy,” which features collaborations with music icons like Wizkid, Stormzy, Central Cee, and Ludmilaa, the documentary provides insight into Asake’s life and career. The title “Lungu Boy,” which translates to “ghetto boy,” symbolizes his transformation from humble beginnings to a global music superstar.

At his recent sold-out concert at the O2 Arena, Asake received a plaque for the venue’s successful shows and a BRIT silver plaque for his album “Work of Art,” presented by Idris Elba. This recognition marks a significant milestone in his career, as “Work of Art” became his second album to achieve BRIT silver status, following his debut, “Mr Money With The Vibes.”

Asake’s impressive track record in the UK, where all three of his albums have topped the UK Apple Music Album Chart, underscores his status as a pioneering Nigerian artist. The documentary promises to be an inspiring portrayal of his journey and the music that has defined his rise to superstardom.
