Bandits Kill Man in Zamfara for Opposing Daughter’s Forced Marriage

*Former Chairman Reveals N10m Fine Imposed on Village*

*Kaduna, by Achadu Gabriel*

In a tragic turn of events, bandits in Kwalfada village, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, northwest Nigeria, reportedly killed a man who resisted their demand to marry his daughter. According to local sources, the father opted to give his daughter in marriage to a local man instead of acceding to the bandit’s wishes.

After the marriage, the bandits invaded the community, resulting in the death of the girl’s father. They then pressured the newlywed husband to divorce his wife so that one of their own could marry her. Fearing for his life, the husband complied, and the girl was remarried to the bandit, who took her into the forest.

The bandits, known to have terrorized the community for an extended period, had previously imposed a N4 million levy on the village. Residents are struggling to meet the demand, and the lack of security measures has left them vulnerable to such atrocities.

Despite efforts to reach the Zamfara State Police Command for comment, there has been no response.

In a separate development, former local council chairman, Hon Salisu Isa Dangulbi of Maru LGA, revealed that the bandits imposed a hefty N10 million fine on the village. He lamented the absence of leadership and assistance, stating that the villagers are in dire need of help with no one to turn to.

Speaking on the overall security situation, Hon Salisu Isa Dangulbi compared the current administration unfavorably with the past, particularly under the leadership of former Governor Abdulkaziz Yari. He emphasized the need for urgent intervention, as the residents remain vulnerable to attacks, with no apparent assistance from law enforcement or the military.
