The Executive Secretary Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Bishop Stephen Adegbite has expressed optimism that Nigeria would soon get out of its current harsh economic situation facing it .
The NCPC boss made this disclosure this Wednesday, during a courtesy visit to the Hon. Minister of Interior , Dr. Olubunmi Tunji – Ojo at the Federal Secretariat Complex, Area I, Garki Abuja.
Bishop Adegbite said, ” we understand what our nation is passing through, we are not alone , it is a global recession , and we will get out of this quagmire.”
The NCPC boss however enjoined Nigerians to pray for the nation during this Lenten period, noting that it is a time for repentance and sober reflection.
He said that Nigeria is passing through a global recession and most nations are passing through tough times.
Adegbite appealed to well meaning Nigerians and the Church to impact positively on the people as a way of mitigating the harsh economic inflation in the country.
Bishop Adegbite also disclosed that the Commission and the Ministry of Interior always had a robust relationship over the years which explains why the ministry has a representative on the Board of NCPC.
He explained that his visit was to further strengthen the synergy between them.
He used the visit to made a case for special Passport for the NCPC board members, as the Ministry through the Nigeria Immigration Service oversees the issuance of passports to Nigerians.
The said,“We are going to work with your Ministry in Synergy to Project the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President.
He also hinted that the theme of the Commission’s Pilgrimage this year is “Renewed Hope and Satisfaction”.
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Aishetu Ndayako congratulated the NCPC boss for his well deserved appointment as the Executive Secretary of the Commission by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
She said, “we are pleased to have you in our midst, we will continue to work with you to facilitate Christian pilgrimage exercise and ensure effective discharge of our duties seamlessly.
”
She assured the NCPC boss that the Minister of Interior is favourably disposed to synergize with the Commission for better pilgrimage exercise to the Holy land.
“We will continue to work with you to ensure you deliver on your mandate.”
She disclosed that internal security is the mandate of the Ministry and so must work and addressed as a people and as a nation.
The Executive Secretary was accompanied on the courtesy visit by the Directors of the Commission and some key management staff.
