Bobrisky Leaves Nigeria Amid Ongoing Legal Issues

Controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has reportedly left Nigeria just days after his release by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bobrisky did not disclose his destination but shared a series of videos on his Instagram story on Monday morning, announcing that he was flying first class. “See you soon, Nigeria. This girl bought a first-class ticket three times; that’s over 30 million. Raise the bar for this girl,” he said. He humorously commented on his passport photo, saying, “That passport disfigured my picture.”

His departure follows a series of incidents last week, beginning with reports that he was removed from a KLM flight at Murtala Muhammed International Airport while trying to travel to London. Bobrisky claimed he was injured during the incident and updated his followers on social media.

After the incident, he was taken to EFCC headquarters in Abuja, where he was reportedly questioned regarding allegations that he had offered a N15 million bribe to dismiss money laundering charges. Bobrisky was released on bail on Saturday after denying the bribery accusations in a statement.

Bobrisky’s legal troubles started in April 2024, when he received a six-month prison sentence for naira abuse. Although he was initially held at Kirikiri Prison, reports indicate he spent only three weeks before being quietly transferred to a private location.

In September, the case escalated further when social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, released audio allegedly capturing Bobrisky discussing bribing EFCC officials to drop money laundering charges.
