Breaking: Edo CSOs Stage Protest in Benin City Against Economic Hardship

Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Edo State have taken to the streets of Benin City, the state capital, in protest against the prevailing economic challenges facing Nigerians.

Carrying placards with inscriptions such as “End Economic Hardship” and “FG End the Hunger in Nigeria Now,” members of the CSOs voiced their grievances during the protest.

This demonstration in Benin City follows a similar protest by residents of Ibadan against economic hardship.

In addition, the “Take It Back Movement,” a human rights group, organized a protest in Lagos State against the escalating prices of food and the high cost of living. This protest occurred despite warnings issued by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, on Sunday.

Furthermore, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has announced plans to commence a nationwide protest starting tomorrow.

The decision to protest comes after the NLC issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to implement agreements reached on October 2, 2023, following the removal of the fuel subsidy. The NLC accuses the government of failing to fulfill its obligations, leading to widespread hardship across the country.
