Gov Okowa extends stay-at-home order by two weeks

The Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has announced the extension of the stay-at-home order in the state by two weeks.

He said this is part of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus pandemic in the state.

Okowa made the statement on Tuesday via his Twitter handle.

The earlier declared restriction order by Okowa, which started on April 1, expires today (Tuesday) at 11:59 pm.

He said, “With three confirmed cases of #COVID-19 in Delta State, we are working round-the-clock to curb the spread of the virus. This is why, I announced a two-week extension of the stay-at-home order, as well as a 7pm to 7am curfew.

“In-line with the recommendations of global health experts, at the end of this week, we will begin the process of distributing free face masks across Delta State.

“Additionally, I informed our citizens and residents that we are also working to fast-track the distribution of food items to low-income families and communities to cushion the effect of the lockdown.”
