The traditional ruler of Odu village Amos Ewa Ebere in the early hours of today was shot dead by bandits in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
According to reports, the gunmen invaded the village on motorcycles and operated for hours. murdered Amos Ewa Obere, the village head, and injured some residents of the village during the attack.
He was rushed to Mararaba Udege General Hospital, for medical attention, but died on their way to the hospital, Late Obere, was a retired ASP of Police, who, until his death, is the ward head of his community and other surrounding villages.
It is however important to note that as at the time of filing this report it was also gathered that security operatives were yet to arrive the village where the incident occurred. Security operatives are yet to make a statement all efforts to speak with the police public relations officer was abortive.
Bandits attacks and kidnappings have been on the rise in Northern Nigeria in recent times, leaving many deaths and displacement of people.
