British Council In Partnership With Adamawa State Government On Coflict Resolution Process

Adamawa State Government has reiterated it commitment towards the maintenance of peace amongst the people, it says it will continue to partner traditional institutions and other key stakeholders in the peace project across the state.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri represented by the Deputy Governor Chief Crowther Seth disclosed this at a conflict management meeting organised for council of Emirs and chiefs in the state organised by British council which held at conference hall of the Government House.

Traditional institutions which has been identified as the custodian of culture and also a vital instrument for promoting peace and unity in various communities, were the targeted key group .

The British Council in Nigeria met with representative of various traditional rulers across the state to come up with the code of conduct that will serve as a roadmap for solving conflict in the state

The one day capacity building that brought together all the first class chiefs across the state is a forum that hope to achieve enablement for them that will harmonizes the code of conduct for implementation.

Chief Crowther Seth appreciated the role of the traditional leaders and the British council in promoting peace and their efforts in enhancing mutual coexistence in Adamawa state.

The Deputy Governor noted that, the prevalence of inter and intra ethnic and religious conflicts all over the country and Adamawa in particular has necessitated the state Government to collaborate with all peace loving and conflict resolution organizations.

The representative of Lamido of Adamawa Mustapha Aminu who is the Galadima Adamawa commended the British council for supporting the state in enhancing their capacity to manage conflicts and reduces the incidence of violence in the state.

The team leader managing conflict in Nigeria Abdulkadir Bello said they have been supporting the capacity of training the traditional rules Adamawa for three years. He listed Mubi Emirate ,Bachama traditional council and Ganye traditional council as the institutions they have been working with.

Abdulkadir also said,the meeting will help the traditional leaders to analyze data and know the different nature of dispute in such location to proffer solutions.
