Chidimma Adetshina Returns to Nigeria After 20 Years to Compete in Miss Universe Nigeria

Chidimma Adetshina, a former Miss South Africa finalist, has made her return to Nigeria after 20 years to participate in the upcoming Miss Universe Nigeria pageant. Adetshina, who arrived in Lagos from Cape Town on Wednesday, August 21, was welcomed with warmth and admiration.

The 23-year-old model, who previously withdrew from Miss South Africa due to a nationality dispute, expressed her excitement about returning to Nigeria for the first time in two decades. Representing Taraba State, Adetshina is eager to explore the country during her stay and to compete in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant, scheduled for August 31.

In addition to her modeling career, Adetshina is a law student and plans to continue her education after the pageant. She expressed gratitude for the warm reception she has received and is looking forward to the journey ahead in her fatherland.

**Netizens React**

Online reactions to Chidimma Adetshina’s return have been mixed. Some questioned why she is receiving more publicity than other contestants, while others defended her absence from Nigeria, pointing out that it’s often the responsibility of parents to educate their children about their heritage.

One user commented, “20 years ago and now you’re back to represent us,” while another noted, “Nothing about her seems Nigerian, even the accent!” Others expressed support for Adetshina, suggesting she should take the time to learn about Nigerian culture and embrace her roots.

Despite the varied reactions, Adetshina’s return to Nigeria marks a significant moment in her life, as she reconnects with her heritage and competes on a national stage.
