Combatting Harmattan Dryness: Skincare Routines for Glowing Skin

As the harmattan season sets in, individuals with dry skin face the challenge of maintaining proper hydration levels. Crafting an effective skincare routine becomes essential to prevent flakiness and discomfort. Regardless of skin type, having a daytime and nighttime skincare regimen is crucial, especially during harmattan. Here are daily skincare routines tailored for people with dry skin, ensuring a radiant and comfortable complexion.

Morning Routine:
1. Cleansing: Begin your day with a mild, gentle, and hydrating face wash to cleanse your skin.
2. Serum Application: Since exposure to sun and dust is inevitable, apply a serum with antioxidants to combat damage from free radicals.
3. Moisturizing: Immediately after cleansing, massage your face with a hydrating moisturizer containing ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, glycerin, and B vitamins. Apply on damp skin within three minutes of washing to maintain hydration throughout the day.
4. Sun Protection: Layer your skin with sun protection, choosing a product with at least SPF 30. Avoid sun exposure and seek shade whenever possible to prevent UV damage.

Night Routine:
1. Makeup Removal: Before starting your nighttime routine, use an oil-based cleanser or cleansing oil to thoroughly remove makeup and replenish your dry skin.
2. Cleansing: Wash your face with a gentle water-based cleanser to eliminate dirt and prepare your skin for the next steps.
3. Exfoliation: Exfoliate once or twice a week using a moisturizing face scrub to eliminate dead skin cells and promote a smooth texture.
4. Serum Application: Reapply a serum with active ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamin E to replenish and maintain skin health.
5. Night Cream: In colder and more humid conditions at night, choose a high-quality moisturizing night cream to aid in skin repair and recovery during sleep.

Following these skincare routines tailored for dry skin during the harmattan season can contribute to a glowing complexion and overall skin health.
