The leadership of Amofia Agu Affa community, in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State has called on the Commissioner of Police to end what they called unwarranted arrest and mysterious disappearance of their youths.

They made the demand in a press statement signed by the chairman of the community’s development union, Chief Chike Aniago.

Aniago, who said over 15 fifteen youths from the community have been arrested and 1 person missing in a spate of one week, said they could no longer keep quiet.

He noted that the latest invasion of the community was even more brutal, leading to the killing and missing of some villagers and arrest of many others.

Aniago disclosed that, “An elderly man, Chief Pius Ede, was killed when the police sprayed bullets in his house while claiming they wanted to arrest his neighbour’s son, Mr Anthony Vincent Ochi.

“They later succeeded in arresting many youths but Mr Anthony Vincent Ochi is still missing and the security agencies are seriously searching for Mr Anthony to arrest him.

“Before Anthony got missing, the security agencies succeeded in destroying his family house, as well as properties. Five other houses were also destroyed during that unprovoked onslaught by security agencies.

“Apart from Elder Ede, a pregnant woman and three others were also killed that same day.

“The claim of the police that our community is being used by the Movement for the Actualisation of Biafra, MASSOB, as operational ground is curious; there is no iota of truth there.”

“We are demanding an end to this unprovoked invasion and extra-judicial killing in our community,” the community leader said.

While noting that several youths were nowhere to be found, he urged the police to free all those in their custody.
