Court postpones Ambode’s case against lawmakers

By Jennifer Y Omiloli

The Lagos State High Court in Ikeja adjourned the hearing until 20 November 2019 in a suit filed by the immediate past Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, to stop the State House of Assembly from investigating 820 mass transit busses purchased by his administration.

Justice Y.A. Akinsanya ordered the ex-governor and the legislators to retain the status quo until the hearing of the suit.

The postponement followed a request by the legislator’s lawyer, Adenike Osinowo, for time to consider Ambode’s suit and file an appropriate response.

On Tuesday, Justice Akinsanya declined to hear an ex parte request by Mr. Tayo Oyetibo (SAN), Ambode’s counsel, to seek injunction orders against the lawmakers.
