CP Kankarofi Assumes Duty in Kogi, Seeks Citizens’ Cooperation to Tackle Crime

By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

The new Commissioner of Police in charge of the Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, on Wednesday in Lokoja, called for the cooperation of residents to effectively combat criminality in the state.

Kankarofi made the appeal while addressing journalists at the command headquarters shortly after assuming duty as the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command.

He emphasized that the command would intensify efforts to implement the Inspector-General of Police’s community policing strategy by prioritizing the needs and expectations of citizens.

The CP, who is taking up the role of Commissioner of Police for the first time in his career, expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for the recognition. He pledged to remain steadfast in protecting lives and property across the state.

Kankarofi also called for stronger collaboration among traditional rulers, community stakeholders, and other security agencies to curb banditry and ensure a safer society.

He urged residents to volunteer credible information that could assist in the arrest of criminals, assuring that the police would protect the identity of informants.

The police commissioner warned those involved in criminal activities to desist, stating that anyone found culpable, regardless of status or position, would face the full weight of the law.

He further disclosed that the state governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, had assured him of full support in the command’s efforts to combat crime.

Kankarofi also pledged that police patrols would be intensified on highways across the state, especially as the Christmas season approaches
