Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, has issued a strong warning to former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, following his controversial remarks about the country’s leadership.
Amaechi recently declared that politicians must “steal, maim, and kill” to remain in power during a speech at the National Conference on Strengthening Democracy in Nigeria. His comments sparked widespread outrage.
In response, Matawalle condemned Amaechi’s statement as reckless and dangerous, suggesting it could incite violence and threaten national security. “Such remarks are an attempt to radicalize the youth and destabilize Nigeria,” said Matawalle.
The Defence Minister emphasized that power in Nigeria is earned through democratic processes, not through violence or lawlessness. He also reiterated President Tinubu’s commitment to maintaining national unity, peace, and the rule of law, highlighting the importance of democracy in governance.
Matawalle called on Nigerians to reject Amaechi’s divisive rhetoric and remain supportive of President Tinubu’s leadership as the country moves toward the 2027 presidential election.
