Delta Speaker says E.K Clark’s demise created difficult vacuum to overcome

By Anne Azuka

Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor has said that the vacuum created by the demise of Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, would be difficult to overcome in the nearest future.

The Speaker stated this in a short tribute to  the late elder statesman during the funeral at his hometown, Kiagbodo in Burutu local government area of Delta State, South South, Nigeria.

Rt Hon Guwor who was among many dignitaries from far and near that gathered at Kiagbodo to pay their last respects to the late multi-faceted leader, said Chief EK Clark was a champion of justice.

Guwor, in the tribute, acknowledged Chief Clark’s impact, commitment, and legacy, saying that the life and times of the late nationalist and Pan Niger Delta leader, were inspiring.

He stated that late Pa Clark would always speak truth to power and remained resolute in achieving goals that he believed guaranteed equity, fairness and prosperity, even to the least amongst the minorities.

The Speaker noted that the late Clark’s leadership in the struggle for true emancipation of the Niger Delta, brought about many positive narratives that extended beyond the region.

He said, “Today, we mourn the loss of a titan, a champion of justice and development. A voice not only for the Niger Delta, but the minorities in Nigeria.

“Chief EK Clark lived a selfless life. His unwavering dedication to the rights of the Ijaw nation, can never be forgotten in any sense whatsoever in human existence.

“The South South, and the Niger Delta region and indeed the entire country, will surely miss his patriotic voice on key issues.

“The life lived by Pa EK Clark will forever inspire many of us. We hope to continue his legacy, working tirelessly for the progress and prosperity of Delta State, the Niger Delta and the nation at large”, Guwor stated.

The Speaker on behalf of the Delta State Legislature and the Delta Ijaw Political Forum, prayed to God to grant the soul of Pa Clark, eternal rest.
