El-Rufai Plans Political Comeback in 2027, Denies Misappropriation Claims

By  Milcah   Tanimu

Former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai announced his intention to return to politics in 2027 during an interview on Freedom Radio Kaduna. El-Rufai emphasized that he will resume public service after completing his studies, stating, “There is no retirement in politics. By the will of Allah, we will return and continue serving the people.”

El-Rufai strongly rejected allegations from the Kaduna State House of Assembly, which claim that he stole or misappropriated N423 billion during his governorship. He asserted, “I didn’t join politics to steal money or enrich myself. I was satisfied with what I had before becoming governor.”

In response to the accusations of financial mismanagement, El-Rufai pointed out that those making the claims lack concrete evidence. He suggested that the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are targeting his associates. He instructed his legal team to take action against those defaming his character.

“I have left everything to Allah’s judgment. I have prayed and will remain silent on the issue,” he added. El-Rufai reiterated that one does not need a government position to serve. He mentioned that he continues to collaborate with individuals who genuinely seek to serve the public.
