Muhammadu Sanusi II, the newly appointed Emir of Kano, has arrived at the government house to receive his letter of appointment.
Sanusi is set to resume his official duties as the sole first-class Emir of Kano State today.
Having arrived in Kano late Thursday, a low-key homecoming reception was organized for him following security advice.
All preparations have been made for the much-anticipated event that will mark the Emir’s first public appearance since his reinstatement.
He is expected to attend a mini-durbar ceremony at the Africa House in Kano Government House by 10 am, after which he will proceed to the Nassarawa Emir’s palace.
Following that, the Emir will lead the jumu’at (Friday) prayers at the Kano Central Mosque located at the palace in Kofar Kudu.
Sanusi was reinstated as the Emir of Kano by Governor Abba Yusuf on Thursday, May 23.
Meanwhile, a Federal High Court sitting in Kano has issued an order stopping the Kano State Government from enforcing the Kano State Emirate Council Repeal Law.
This order was granted in an application by Alhaji Aminu Babba Dan Agundi, the Sarkin Dawaki Babba of the Kano Emirate.
The respondents in the fundamental rights case include the Kano State Government, the House of Assembly, the Speaker, the Attorney-General, the Commissioner of Police, the Inspector-General of Police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the State Security Service.
