Directed by Omoni Oboli, *Wives on Strike 3: The Uprising* is the third installment of the acclaimed Nollywood drama series. This chapter follows Mama Ngozi, a local government chairman, as she grapples with new responsibilities and faces personal revelations that leave viewers engrossed.
The film’s emotional weight puts it alongside Nollywood classics like *Ajosepo* and *Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti*. With its range of characters and themes, the movie appeals to diverse audiences, and the acting brings the story to life. Notably, Hilda Dokubo shines, transforming her role from a mourning mother to a woman driven by justice for her kidnapped son. Her nuanced facial expressions and depth make her portrayal deeply relatable, making her character arc one of the most captivating in the film.
Tomiwa Wategbe, playing Emeka, also brings intensity and mystery, especially during a plot twist that adds suspense to the narrative. This suspense is well-maintained throughout, balancing the story’s emotional weight.
While the cinematography is standard for Nollywood, the framing and camera movements in dramatic scenes deserve mention. The colour grading adds a desaturated tone, particularly effective in indoor scenes, though the outdoor scenes occasionally struggle with light control.
Surprisingly, despite a lackluster poster, the film captivates from start to finish. In the cinema, it was clear that the story resonated deeply with viewers, who responded emotionally to the journey. For its successful blend of drama and suspense, *Wives on Strike 3* earns a solid 7.5/10, achieving its goal of evoking a powerful emotional response.
