Environmental Health Officers Commend Gov Makinde

The Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria (EHOAN) has commended the Oyo State government for being the pillar of the association through its support, especially the recruitment of hundred members of the association into the state service.

The zonal president of the association, Sanitarian Tope Akinwumi gave the commendation in his welcome address at the sixth Conference and Scientific Workshop in the South-West organised by the association on Wednesday, at the Western Hall, Secretariat, Ibadan.

Akinwumi, who lauded the performance of Governor S’eyi Makinde on the various development programmes and projects, said the governor had demonstrated commitment in all facets of economy with special attention to environmental sustainability.

He called on members of the association and people of state to support the governor in his quest to repositioning the state for socio-economic development.

Akinwumi said the conference would go a long way to equip members of the association with relevant skills and better position them for effective delivery.

He enjoined Governor Makinde to continue to demonstrate his love and support to the association, adding the conference was unique and special in all ramifications.

Akinwumi also commended the HEORECON’s Registrar, Dr Yakubu Mohammed Baba, leaders from the Suth-West zone, all executive members from the six South-West states for their support that led to the ongoing 2021 conference.

While declaring the conference opened, Governor Seyi Makinde who was represented by the state Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Kamorudeen Abiodun Aderibigbe enjoined the participants to be more focused in discharging their duties while they should live above the vices of corruption, misuse of positions as well as poor attitude to work.

Governor Makinde said, his administration will not relent in the area of provision of safe and healthy environment for citizens of the state as well as other developmental programmes for the betterment of the people.

The governor who said the frequent challenge of outbreak of diseases with its attendant implications made the conference a needed one at this point in time while assuring the association of his continuous support.

The theme of the Conference is “Environmental Health Practise, A Key To Prevention and Control of Emerging and Re-emerging Diseases”
