EODU Urges Gov. Ododo to Extend Development to Egume Community

By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Usman Ododo, has been urged to extend his administration’s developmental initiatives to Egume, a community in Dekina Local Government Area.

This appeal was made by a prominent community stakeholder, Mr. John K. Umoru, during the annual gathering of the Lokoja branch of the Egume-Ome Descendants Union (EODU), held over the weekend at the residence of Dr. Y. Attah in Lokoja.

Mr. Umoru emphasized that Egume, the headquarters of Okura District and an ancient community, has not benefited from significant government interventions. He highlighted the lack of essential social amenities and proper township roads in the area, calling on the state government to address these pressing issues.

He also encouraged all sons and daughters of Egume to remain focused and committed to contributing toward the community’s socio-economic development.

In his remarks, Mr. Umoru commended the outgoing executives of EODU for their dedication, zeal, and achievements in elevating the union’s status within the state.

The outgoing chairman of EODU Lokoja branch, Comrade Noah Ocheni, expressed gratitude to members for their support and cooperation during his tenure. He also applauded the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency for their contributions, including the renovation of the health clinic at Efakwu and the rehabilitation of boreholes in Owala and Ogene-Odeto.
