Ewa’s Thought in Words

BE GRATEFUL NO MATTER THE TIDE. . .

There are essentially two major defining stories in every individual’s life, without which we do not exist and this is the story of arrival and departure. Simply put, it is the story of one’s birth and death. All human beings have this one thing in common no matter the colour, tribe or race. Like a product, there is always the manufactured date and the expiry date. Just as a good celebration accompanies the birth of a child, so also is death celebrated. Ironically, these are mostly the two celebrations in most part of the world that are commonly planned and executed for the individual by their families and relations without their knowledge or consent.

Besides these two commonly shared similitudes, the human life is basically characterised by some difficult moments and trials. Every phase of life is achieved by one struggle or another. While growing up for some might be something memorable and quite cherished, to others, it could be something dreadful, an experience they never want to recount, a part of life they probably would never want to recall.

Our experiences differ from one person to another, likewise, our thresholds and mental capacities. Life sometimes is like a tidal wave. It encompasses so much that even words cannot convey.

Our human expectations are other important parts of being human. Although most times, we are left disappointed by the turn of things and events, as I have come to discover, life is full of the unexpected. While good people most times suffer injustices, some bad people tend to excel in most cases, making it seem as though it’s a reward.

The travails of life are seen in many ways. While some are privileged to have a good life by veto of their family influence and affluence, some others are caught on the other side of the coin which spells “fight for yourself.” While some went to school without knowing how their school fees was or is raised, many others went to school dreading each resumption date because rasing their school fees was or is a responsibility that lies solely on them. While some end up in child marriages, many full blown adults are still waiting for that phase of their life. While some get pregnant even before marriage, many who have been married are still seeking and waiting for pregnancy many years after marriage. While some are long dead without any illness or distress, many others have been in such worse conditions and are still alive. While one person is experiencing a certain level of fortune, another might just be going through another side of the same coin called “misfortune”.
In all of these, many people tend to thrive in afflicting others with their privileges. They mock others who are yet to attain their quest and heart desires, dwelling strongly on hate rather than love. In their fortunes, they forget that nothing in this life is permanent except death.

Never make the downfall of another your joy, else it will be shortlived because he or she will not stay down forever.
We give away our strength when we hate someone so much that all we desire is to see them hurt, and then I ask, “to what end?” That you hurt or kill another does not immune you to hurt or death, does it?

Hatred is grossly one nonprofitable venture which always leaves the hater with nothing other than bitterness, pain and misery. It’s sad how a human being can invest so much time in sowing hatred as though someone planting crops in anticipation of a good harvest.

Though we struggle each day with living life and all that it brings our way, may we always be grateful for the pleasant and unpleasant experiences, for life itself is a combination of a whole lot. Although it can be so overwhelming sometimes, it must go on till the end where one draws their last.
