FCTA trains Directors on Stress Management

The Federal Capital Development Administration, FCDA, has began training of its directors on stress management.
The phased training Worship is for the Directorate cadre of the Administration to teach them on how to minimize stress and stress-related illnesses among the workforce and promote healthy living by the management Staff.

The training with the theme: ‘Stress/Holistic Therapeutic Management for Directors’, began Sunday, in Keffi, Nassarwa State and it is expected to last for three days.

Declaring the Workshop open, the Permanent Secretary, of Federal Capital Territory Administration, Mr. Olusade Adesola, said the workshop is aimed at imbibing in the participants the knowledge and skills required to manage stress associated with the demands of their respective Secretariats, Departments, and Agencies (SDA’s )of the Administration.

Adesola stressed the importance of training and insisted that a healthy workforce is a more productive workforce.

The Permanent Secretary, who was represented by the Director of Human Resource Management, Mallam Muhammad Bashir, said the venue of the workshop was moved out of the Federal Capital Territory to ensure that participants concentrate fully on the goals of the workshop and avoid any form of distractions.

He noted that the training programme was designed considering the quantum of work being done by the FCTA Directors overseeing over 32,000 staff of the FCTA, which requires adequate attention to their health.

He further said the training is also geared towards ensuring the fitness of the high echelon of the government of the Territory to effectively perform their requisite responsibilities.

Adesola stated that the volume of work being carried out by the officers culminates into challenges of stress management, which if not tackled will cause health challenges resulting in counterproductive for the Administration.

His said, “Whether we like it or not, such volume of work stresses us. We have to come here to galvanize professionals in stress management to listen to them regarding stress management to assist us.”

The Permanent Secretary, therefore, urged the participants to be attentive and endeavor to take away the skills taught during the session as they will be useful even after their service years.
