Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko (Sarkin Yamman Sokoto), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, will be awarded an honorary Doctorate Degree in Political Science by Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, during its upcoming convocation ceremony.
A statement personally signed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Armiya’u Hamisu Bichi, revealed that at its 117th regular meeting, the University decided to confer the honorary degree (Honoris Causa) on Senator Wamakko.
The statement highlighted that the award recognizes Senator Wamakko’s commitment to democratic ideals since the onset of Nigeria’s current democratic era.
The University Senate also commended the Senator’s significant and enduring contributions to Sokoto State in various roles, including public servant, Deputy Governor, Governor, and as a member of the Senate in Nigeria’s National Assembly.
The Vice-Chancellor further noted the Senate’s appreciation for Senator Wamakko’s dedication to the growth and development of education, particularly the tertiary education sector.
In a congratulatory message on behalf of the University’s management and students, Bashar Abubakar, the Vice-Chancellor, expressed hope that the award would inspire Senator Wamakko to continue supporting the sector and the University specifically.
