First Lady Calls for Increased Investment in Women on IWD

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has emphasized the need for greater investment in women, citing it as a crucial strategy for national advancement. In a statement shared on her social media handle on Friday, she celebrated the resilience and contributions of women across generations.

Under the theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,” Tinubu highlighted the imperative of action in empowering women. She underscored that investing in women is not merely an act of charity but a strategic move to shape Nigeria’s future.

Tinubu advocated for enhanced access to education, resources, and opportunities for women, emphasizing the importance of breaking down economic barriers and amplifying women’s voices. She urged women to support each other, emphasizing the transformative power of collective action in achieving progress.

The United Nations, marking International Women’s Day, echoed similar sentiments, condemning the injustices and discrimination faced by women and girls worldwide. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stressed the necessity of public and private investment in initiatives to combat violence against women, promote decent work, and enhance women’s leadership across various sectors.

As the world commemorates International Women’s Day, the calls for gender equality and women’s empowerment reverberate, emphasizing the urgency of concerted efforts to create a more inclusive and equitable society.
