Former perm.sec solicits ministry’s cooperation for successor

The former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr Bitrus Nabasu, has called on the management and members of staff of the ministry to extend their cooperation to Dr Mohammed Umar, his successor.

Nabasu said this in a statement signed by the Ministry’s Information Officer,Mr Otuyemi Adetayo in Abuja on Monday.

Adetayo said Nabasu disclosed this while handing over to Umar.

Nabasu commended the management and supervising Directors of the Ministry for their dedication to duty and sense of harmony and urged them to extend same to the new permanent secretary.

In his remarks, Umar urged the management and staff to work together to ensure participatory management in order to drive the vision and mission of the ministry logical end.

He gave the assurance that he would inject new ideas, innovations and initiatives that would propel the ministry to greater heights.

Umar, however, called for an open-door policy and increased participation in the affairs of the ministry by its members of staff and management.

The new permanent secretary advised the staff to shun side talk, gossip and blackmail which he noted could derail the progress of any organisation.

Umar said such negative tendencies would not be tolerated during tenure.

He assured members of staff and management of a rewarding experience in the ministry. (NAN)
