Fulani in Nasarawa to expose members involved in Kidnapping, robbery

Fulani leaders in Nasarawa State, have promised to expose their people involved in kidnapping, armed robbery and other criminality in the state.

The leaders made the commitment at an emergency meeting with local government and state officials of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), and Fulani Ardos (village heads) and other members in the state.

Speaking at the meeting, Alhaji Mohammed Hussaini, Nasarawa State Chairman of MACBAN, said the decision was necessitated by their determination to address insecurity in the state.

Hussaini said that the few criminals among them were giving the entire Fulani people a bad name, as they were now being branded kidnappers and armed robbers.

He called on every Fulani family to expose criminals among them to show the world that they were good and peaceful people.

“Majority of the kidnapped victims are Fulani people because our people are living in the bush and are vulnerable to the activities of criminals.

While noting that criminals often trailed their members on a daily basis to the cattle market in Lafia to attack them, Hussaini said: “Our people are being subjected to paying ransom of up to N5 million by kidnappers, yet everybody blames us for kidnapping instead of sympathising with us.”

Also speaking, Lawal Dono, Chairman of Ardos in the state said as leaders, they would not harbour criminal elements.

Dono alleged that there were plans currently by some certain persons to recruit people to cause chaos in the state.

He urged the security agencies to arrest those people before their plans materialised; and it would be too late.

The chairman, however, said that the Fulani people would collaborate fully with the state government and security agencies to end all forms of criminal activities in the state.

our corresponded reports that there was oath taking by members as a pledge not to partake in any criminal activity.
