Gbajabiamila Appointed as Chief of Staff to President Tinubu

Must read

In a recent development , the current Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, has been appointed as the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This decision effectively removes Gbajabiamila from the upcoming 10th National Assembly, where he was expected to serve. Gbajabiamila, who secured a 6th term as the representative of Surulere Federal Constituency in Lagos State, announced the appointment through his Chief of Staff, Olanrewaju Smart Wasiu, on his official Facebook page.

President Tinubu’s choice of Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff followed careful consideration and consultations with his loyalists. This appointment marks a significant shift for Gbajabiamila, as he will now leave his position in the House of Representatives to join the executive branch of government, even before receiving his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Sources mentioned in the statement revealed that President Tinubu selected Gbajabiamila over James Faleke, the representative of Ikeja Federal Constituency and a prominent supporter of Tinubu’s campaign. The decision was driven by the President’s aim to have someone who can effectively garner support from lawmakers in the National Assembly for his proposed policies.
