Gov. Alia Signs 2025 Budget Into Law, Launches State’s 10-Year Development Plan

By Isaac Kertyo, Makurdi

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has signed the 2025 budget into law, estimated at N550,112,988,930.45. The budget focuses on human capital development, food security, and the digital economy.

The Benue State House of Assembly passed the 2025 Appropriation Bill during a plenary session on Monday, presided over by Speaker Hon. Hyacinth Dajoh.

The signing ceremony, held at the Government House in Makurdi, coincided with the launch of the State’s 10-year development plan, as well as the State Nutrition Policy and State Social Protection Policy. Governor Alia emphasized that these initiatives are part of his administration’s efforts to build a brighter, more prosperous future for the state.

He stated that the budget provides the framework for expanding access to quality education, improving healthcare services, and promoting lifelong learning, all aimed at accelerating the state’s development.

“We are laying the groundwork for a future where every citizen of the state has the opportunity to succeed, live in dignity, and contribute to the growth of our state. Our work doesn’t end today—it’s just the beginning. Together, we will build a brighter, more resilient future for ourselves and for generations to come,” the governor assured.

Governor Alia also commended the Benue State House of Assembly for the timely passage of the 2025 Appropriation Bill.
