Gov. Ododo Unveils Urban Revitalization Blueprint for Kogi State

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has launched a comprehensive plan to modernize the state’s housing and urban development sectors. The blueprint was revealed during a two-day symposium titled “Modern Housing & Urban Development” held at the Glass House, Government House, Lokoja.

Speaking on behalf of the governor, the Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, Hon. Joseph Oluwasegun, reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to improving the lives of residents through innovative housing and urban initiatives.

“The symposium aims to address pressing housing challenges facing the people of Kogi State,” Oluwasegun stated.

Affordable Housing as a Priority

The Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abanika Taiye, represented by Dr. Zainab Obadaki, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, highlighted the blueprint’s focus on providing affordable and sustainable housing. She emphasized that the initiative would promote social inclusion and environmental sustainability.

Dr. Obadaki noted,

“This program is a pivotal step toward achieving modern housing schemes, which will significantly benefit the people of Kogi State.”

Economic and Environmental Benefits

Hon. Aliu Salami, Economic Adviser to the Governor, underscored the broader implications of the initiative, pointing out that it would unlock various opportunities to accelerate development across the state.

Additionally, the governor has prioritized resolving land disputes and combating environmental degradation, aligning these efforts with the urban revitalization goals.

Driving Growth and Modernization

The blueprint represents a transformative agenda aimed at:

  • Providing sustainable housing for all social classes.
  • Enhancing urban infrastructure to boost economic activities.
  • Tackling land disputes and ecological challenges.

The program is expected to set Kogi State on a path toward rapid urban growth, creating a more inclusive and modern environment for residents.
