Gov Yari hails PMB on foresight to decongest prisons.

Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara state has commended the timely foresight of President Muhammadu Buhari for the constitution of the Presidential Advisory Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy.

The Governor made the commendation while hosting the committee on a courtesy call in Government House Gusau headed by its Vice Chairman and Permanent Secretary Special Duties(SGF Office) Mr. Williams Alo.

He said the move to identify inmates that are eligible for Presidential Pardon in all the states of the federation will surely reshape the mindsets of all the inmates and facilitate the decongestion of Nigerian Prisons.

Governor Yari appealed to the committee to carry out the task in accordance with its terms of reference and exhibit spirit of patriotism while interacting with all the relevant organisations for the success of its assignment.

Yari, on behalf of his government, expressed appreciation to the committee and assured all necessary support for the efficient exercise while in Zamfara State and charges all the relevant agencies in the state to give maximum contribution for the success of the project.

Governor Yari then pledged to work closely with relevant agencies to further entrust more powers in President Muhammadu Buhari in the prerogative matters that will reintegrate pardoned inmates to their societies for a better life.

Earlier, the leader of the committee Mr Williams Alo told the Governor that the committee was inaugurated on the 28th August Security challenge: Zamfara suspends all devt projects, sanctions four traditional rulers.2018 by President Muhammadu Buhari to go round the country and interact with relevant bodies to find out inmates of federal offenses that include kidnapping, drug abuse, vandals of public property among others, who deserve presidential pardon.

He thanked the Governor for the warm reception and gave assurance of discharging their duties in accordance with the provision of the constitution.
