Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State has expressed appreciation for BUA Cement PLC during the commissioning of the company’s Community Development Projects, marking a significant milestone in the collaborative efforts between the government and BUA to foster sustainable development and improve the quality of life for the people of Sokoto.
Governor Aliyu, who was represented at the event by Aminu Dodo Iya, the Commissioner for Water Resources, lauded the company’s unwavering commitment to corporate social responsibility.
“Your dedication to community development is not only commendable but also serves as a shining example for other corporate entities to follow. The BUA Cement Community Development Project is a testament to what can be achieved when the private sector and government work hand in hand for the common good,” the governor said.
A Foundation for Thriving Communities
The governor highlighted that community development is the foundation of any thriving society, and initiatives like the BUA Cement projects are crucial in addressing the pressing needs of local communities.
“As a government, we recognize the importance of creating an enabling environment for such initiatives to flourish. We are committed to providing the necessary support and collaboration to ensure the success of these projects,” Governor Aliyu added.
During the ceremony, the governor commissioned projects valued at N343 million, aimed at furthering the development of communities in the state.
BUA Cement’s Dedication to Host Communities
Engr. Yusuf Binji, Managing Director/CEO of BUA Cement PLC, praised the company’s longstanding commitment to its host communities.
“In the past, BUA Cement PLC distributed drugs and hospital equipment to 16 hospitals and clinics across Wamakko Local Government Area. We are dedicated to giving back to our host communities and strengthening our mutually beneficial relationship,” Binji remarked.
He was represented by Sada Sulaiman, Director of Corporate Services, who also expressed gratitude to Governor Aliyu for the state’s continuous support and guidance.
“Your presence is a clear testimony of the support and cordial relationship between BUA Cement PLC and the state government,” Sulaiman added.
Enhancing Community Welfare
Engr. Ali Gumel and Alhaji Rabi’u Maska, both key figures in the initiative, explained that the project aims to enhance the lifestyles of the beneficiaries. The company will distribute 150 tonnes of cement to support the repair of mosques, cemeteries, and other essential community structures.
Additionally, five primary schools will benefit from the donation of uniforms to ensure that children who previously couldn’t attend due to lack of uniforms can now receive an education.

The Wamakko Local Government Council Chairman, Ahmad Dundaye, expressed his gratitude to both the state government and BUA Cement PLC for their dedication to the welfare of his people.
