Governor Ahmad Sokoto Promised To Uphold Democratic Values

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has promised to uphold democratic values in the interest of the state and Nigeria as a whole.

This is contained in a statement signed by his Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa, which was made available to journalists in Sokoto on Monday as the country celebrates the 2023 Democracy Day.

According to the statement,the governor also assured people of the state of his administration s readiness to respect democratic principles.

According to him,all the rights enshrined under democratic values and principles would be respected.

He said that the present administration’s 9-point agenda is designed to transform the State, through people-oriented projects, policies and programmes.

As contained in a statement by Press Secretary ro the governor,Malam Abubakar Bawa,the agenda, he added, contains the major needs of the people of the state and pledged to religiously execute it tune with the financial strength of the state.

“People of Sokoto State have voted for us with the hope that we’ll rescue the state from the PDP’s mess.

“So, we have to do all that is possible to ensure that the lost glory of the state is restored for the good of all,” he averred.

Dr Aliyu said the young administration had so far succeeded in restoring water supply to Sokoto metropolis after months-long scarcity.

According to the governor, It’s open door policy is also being observed with a view to listening to the yearnings and aspirations of the teeming people of the State.

Aliyu further restated his commitment to improve the living condition of the people especially at the grassroots.

He called for support and cooperation from well meaning citizens to ensure the rejuvenation of the State.

The governor wished Nigerians happy and momentous celebrations, urging them to continue to be law abiding and respect constituted authorities.

Aliyu also harped on the need for sustainable peace and unity in the country, saying that Nigeria’s diversity remains her strength.
