Governor Umo Eno has commended the management and staff of Ibom Air for their historic maiden flight to Accra, Ghana, stating that this achievement marks the beginning of route expansion into the West African sub-region by the Nigerian flagship airline.

In a message released on his behalf by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, over the weekend in Uyo, Eno expressed his deep appreciation for the award-winning airline.

“Your inaugural commercial flight to Accra, Ghana, signifies the commencement of the airline’s growth and expansion into new frontiers.

“In just a little over four years since you initiated commercial operations, you have redefined industry standards and professionalism, earning recognition through numerous aviation awards.

“Akwa Ibom people, and indeed all Nigerians, take pride in your accomplishments. This event is a celebration of the vision set forth by my esteemed predecessor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, which we are determined to uphold and expand upon through our ARISE Agenda, particularly in the realms of tourism and enhancing the ease of doing business in our beloved state,” the governor stated.

It’s worth noting that the Akwa Ibom State-owned airline initiated regional flight operations from Lagos, Nigeria to Accra, Ghana, last Tuesday.

This strategic expansion aligns with the airline’s vision to become a world-class African regional airline, offering passengers an industry-leading travel experience characterized by schedule reliability, on-time departures, and exceptional service.

The flight, which took off from Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, Nigeria, at 7:45 am on Tuesday, received a warm welcome at Kotoka International Airport, Accra, Ghana, at 7:45 am local time.
