Iheanacho responds to Leicester City relegation: “Life kicks you.”

 

Kelechi Iheanacho expressed his disappointment as Leicester City was unable to avoid relegation to the Championship. With Southampton already relegated, the final day of the league saw Leeds United, Leicester, and Everton competing for survival.

Despite securing a 2-1 victory against West Ham United in their last game of the 2022/23 season, Leicester City’s efforts were in vain as Everton, their relegation rivals, also won 1-0 against Bournemouth. This crucial victory ensured Everton’s survival in the Premier League, leaving Leicester City to face relegation.

Kelechi Iheanacho, in response to their demotion, expressed his disappointment at the outcome but remained optimistic that Leicester City would bounce back from this setback.Kelechi Iheanacho expressed his emotional state, stating that he is currently filled with disappointment and unsure of his exact feelings. He mentioned his gratitude towards the football club, the fans, and all those who have supported Leicester City throughout their journey.

He expressed the need to stand up and continue moving forward, staying strong despite the disappointment. He acknowledged that nobody is happy at this time and recognized the challenging period for the club and everyone involved. However, he emphasized the importance of accepting the situation and looking ahead rather than dwelling on the past.

Iheanacho also expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the fans, highlighting their continuous encouragement even in difficult times. He thanked the fans for their support and assured them that the team would do their best to make a comeback.

Regarding his own future, Iheanacho’s contract with the club has only one year remaining, and it is likely that he may be sold to compensate for the financial impact of being in the Championship.
