Imo Monarch’s Palace Set Ablaze by Hoodlums, Prompting Residents to Flee

By Daniel Edu

Imo State, Nigeria – In a disturbing incident, armed individuals have completely destroyed the residence of Eze Kanu Ikenolu, the revered traditional leader of the Ndia Iche Arondizuogu community located in the Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State.

The shocking attack has left the local community gripped with fear, causing villagers, including members of the royal family, to seek refuge in the surrounding wilderness.

Reports indicate that the assailants launched explosive devices at the palace, resulting in the complete destruction of the building, parked vehicles on the premises, and personal possessions.

An anonymous local resident expressed that the damage caused by the arsonists has amounted to millions of naira.

“The residence of HRH Eze Ikenolu, the esteemed Eze of Ndia Iche Arondizuogu, fell victim to unidentified gunmen, forcing the community into a state of disarray,” the source shared.

Criticism was voiced over the apparent lack of a prompt police response to the crisis. The source questioned whether the village of Arondizuogu was still considered a part of Imo State due to the absence of law enforcement presence.

Confirming the incident, Henry Okoye, the State Police Public Relations Officer, assured that intensive efforts are underway to apprehend the culprits behind the arson and ensure they face legal consequences.
